BSc., Master of Counselling
Carla Thorogood, M.C., R.C.A.T., is a Registered Canadian Art Therapist with over 18 years of experience providing mental health support to children, adolescents, and adults. She holds a Master of Counselling from the Campus Alberta Applied Psychology: Counselling Initiative (University of Calgary, Athabasca University, and University of Lethbridge) and an Advanced Diploma in Art Therapy from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. Her clinical training spans Art Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, play therapy, and trauma-focused art therapy interventions.
Carla spent 18 years as an Art Therapist and Mental Health Support specialist with the Medicine Hat School District, where she provided individual and group counselling, offered classroom supports and consulted with educators and families on student wellbeing. In her private practice, she works with clients across the lifespan and has facilitated art therapy groups for adults living with serious mental illness, delivered wellness programming in schools, colleges and business organizations including Canadian Armed Forces personnel at CFB Suffield, the City of Medicine Hat and at professional development sessions for school staff.
Carla is passionate about the power of creative expression as a pathway to healing and resilience. She brings warmth, clinical depth, and a collaborative spirit to her work with clients, communities, and fellow professionals.
